Appendices of the Dragon Ages

There is a great deal of information to be found in the realm of Dragone from the Third Age.  Dragone hadn't always been called that.  In the Second Age, Dragone was known as the Outlands.  In the First Age, Dragone was referred to as the Desolate Plains.  I thought I would give a timeline, summary, and some history to better understand when and where my stories are being told.

Let's start where all things begin--the beginning:

THE FIRST AGE

The First Age is the beginning of time in the realm known as Dragone.  Dragons first began their existence, having been created by the Avalar.  The Avalar, or divine beings, took this time to create humans, shifters, dwarves, elves, and numerous other creatures.  They are the sole reason for existence in the realm.  The Avalar consisted of a man and woman who became lonely and decided they needed to create children.

The Avalar.  Names Unknown.
Divine Beings.
 Creators of the Universe.
The Avalar also created evil because they believe without evil, there can be no good.  They did not merely create Fantore, Necromancers, or dragons as evil creatures, instead they instilled the worst traits of mankind into these beings such as greed, envy, hate...Eventually, all races adopted the bad qualities as evil was so easy.

Having seen their work take a turn for the worse, the Avalar created the HEART OF THE DRAGON, a precious gemstone that was the very heart of the world.  With it's destruction, the realm of Dragone would perish and be no more.  It was the ultimate fail-safe.

Only dragons knew of the Heart of the Dragon for obvious reasons--it was the very essence of the first dragon.  Inside the Heart was the spirit of Camin--his ghost.  Camin was the most powerful of all dragons.  The Avalar had not realized what they had created until Camin's wanton destruction nearly obliterated all other species.

Long has it been foretold Camin would return in physical form and on that day the world would end.  His vengeance would be great, his wrath terrible.  He would take his revenge on those who imprisoned him--the Avalar.  In so doing, all creatures great and small would suffer.

THE SECOND AGE

This is the age where the Heart of the Dragon Series takes prominence.  The dragons are all but extinct save for a handful.  Mankind has tried to wipe the species from the realm.  They can only be saved by the Dragon Mother, a human that has been endowed with mystical powers.  The gemstone known as the Heart of the Dragon has been awakened and Camin has been freed.  The world stands on the edge of knife, stray a little on the path of love and good, and the world will crumble.

The creatures that have found this age tolerable are the werewolves, humans, elves, and dragons.  Werewolves are a new crossbreed of species between humans and wolves.  They were not created by the Avalar--instead a powerful Necromancer interwove the species and kept them as pets.

THE THIRD AGE

The Third Age is when THE DRAGON LORDS series takes place.  The dragons are all but dead.  Only one remains,  the Fire Dragon Narcil.  He is filled with hate and destruction.  Camin had taken over his body and still seeks revenge.  This is the age of the Dragonkin, descendants of the Second Age Dragons and the fabled Dragon Mother.

The Fantore, descendants of Narcil, have been created by nefarious means.  They are vicious and can only be controlled by the Seer, a Dragonkin of great power.

The Dragonkin have dormant magic that can only be awakened in times of distress.  When Narcil enacts his revenge, the Dragonkin begin to shift into dragons and mages.  Mages are human magicians, capable of bending the elements and creating fire from their hands.

With the crossbreeding of many species, such as werewolves and elves, new creatures have been made.  The Hawk shifters were made when the Necromancer Ellis crossbred hawks and humans.  Humans are genetically easier to cross-breed and so they have become fodder for deranged mages and necromancers.

The realm has grown considerable--species have spread across Dragone and into other parts of the world.  They call this world Rainbell, as the sound of the rain sounds like the tinkling of bells.  Rainbell is composed of Crymea, Ephos, and Dragone.  There are smaller towns and villages that surround these apexes of development.  The Realm of the Rogues is just one such place.  As time continues, the world continues to grow.

THE FOURTH AGE

The Fourth Age has not yet begun.
